The Forbidden
Book 2 in The Courtship of Nellie Fisher.
There are a lot of changes going on in the Fisher's lives and in their community. If you recall from the first book, several of the families had begun questioning their Old Order faith and started visiting another church. This book focuses on the ramifications those families are dealing with for accepting a new faith. The community is definitely split in more ways that one. Caleb is still forbidden from courting Nellie, but the pair finds ways to see one another. Nellie's sister, Rhoda, is thinking about leaving the Plain life so we follow along as she ventures out into the modern world. There is also a interesting story about Rosanna Lapp and her adopted twins that has a surprising ending. We also learn more about Suzy Fisher and how her death has become a true testimony for her family. There is are many story lines in this book, but they were easy to follow. I'm looking forward to completing the final book, The Longing. I'm definitely intrigued to see how everything wraps up!
