Reverse Fabriano Trio

I'm so excited at how this card turned out. One of my Lostie sistahs challenged us to make a card using no layers. EEK..no layers, I've never done that before. I had done an order a few months ago with Emily to get some of these Fabriano Medioevalis cards that everyone was talking about. They are stationary from Italy that have a wonderful texture and torn edges. They are also perfect for making elegant, quick cards and for watercoloring! This was my first time to use them and I am in love!!!!!

I stamped my Gina K Flower Trio image in black Stazon. To give it a faux layered look, I decided to try the reverse masking technique for the background..again another first for me. Beate has a wonderful tutorial on SCS. I used my square punch and punched out a rectangle on some computer paper to make my mask. Then I positioned it over my stamped image and used a sponge to add some Sage Shadow color. I then used my watercolor brush to color in my image. The colors I used were: Sage Shadow, Bashful Blue, Rose Red, So Saffron.

My sentiment is from a SU set called Noteworthy. It is stamped in black Stazon. I then tied a Joann's ribbon along the edge and highlighted the center of my flowers with a Sakura Stardust pen. A card full of first: Fabriano paper, reverse masking and no layers. See it can be done :)

A very pretty card, well done. I think I would struggle if I weren't allowed to use layers.
