Hey, thanks for the Happy Memorial Day greeting! 1984 was a long time ago! Ironically, I was at a reception a couple of days before memorial day. I was sitting in a swing when another guy ask to sit down. He was speaking to still a third person. He mentioned being in the Marines in Vietnam in 1965. Boy, did that ever get my attention. You don't just accidentally run into someone that has been near where you were stationed, especially over 40 years ago. I found out from him that he arrived in Vietnam (DaNang)the same day our outfit made our beachlanding near there. We had been floating off the shore of DaNang for the past 68 days waiting for the USA "word" to enter the Country. He was a helicopter pilot and I was in Infantry. He was to be stationed at the airstrip. Our Mission was to secure the airstrip from recent viet cong attacks from outside the fenced in area & bombing of aircraft on the strip. We had interesting conversations. I also remembered the first two Marines killed in the Vietnam War. Both were from my platoon; and one being from Texas. Incidently you know of the other Marine as Laura Wilson's Dad, Iver. Thanks again for you remembering us! Your Dad
