Kick Stand Sketch

Did y'all see today's sketch challenge on SCS? Roxie has us making a kick stand card this week. I was a little hesitant when I first saw the sketch, but after looking in the gallery and making one myself, I am now hooked. I LOVE this layout! I kept my card small, it only measures 4 1/4 x 4 1/8. I cut 1" off the bottom of the Pretty in Pink cardstock and inked all the edges with Close to Cocoa. I tried a new technique on my main image. I got the icing idea from this blog and I'm so happy I bookmarked it. Mary Jo explained that she only had liquid applique in white. So to make it a desired color, she just mixed it with a drop of re-inker. That's exactly what I did. I squirted some white liquid applique out on a plate, then added a drop of Pretty in Pink reinker and mixed with a toothpick. Then just added it to my image! After heat setting it, I cut out the cake and raised it with a dimensional. There is Stardust Stickles on the stars! Once I mounted my image on Cocoa and Celery, I then just lined the bottom of it up with the bottom of the Pink cardstock. Voila, a kick stand card! I hope that you try it out and happy stamping!

Stamps: Make a Wish (Gina K), Small Sayings
Paper: Pretty in Pink, white, SEI, Certainly Celery, Close to Cocoa
Ink: Close to Cocoa
Other: Celery & Bashful Blue grosgrain, Scrap and the City Sprinkles (Queen & Co.), dimensional, white liquid applique, Pretty in Pink reinker, Stardust Stickles
